Roman Makhmutov


Roman Makhmutov is a documentary and portrait Russian-born photographer. From his hometown Magnitogorsk, Russia, to New York City, USA, Roman brings his unique perspective, keen eye, conceptual thinking, extraordinary work ethic, organizational skills and technical savvy – not to mention his personal charm and “can do” attitude – to whatever goal he sets his mind to.

Makhmutov launched successful media school in 2007 and since 2010 he teaches portrait photography and flash photography at his workshops and classes across Europe. His commercial portfolio includes many famous Russian politicians and persons, including Vladimir Putin (the president of Russia).

His documentary works about Russian culture won several awards: IPA Russia 2014/2015, ND Awards 2015, Best Of Russia 2014, Young Photographers of Russia. His works have been exhibited in Moscow, New York and Washington. D.C. Publications in Wired, The Guardian, DigitalPhoto, Russia Behind The Headlines, Nikon N-Photo, Lens Magazine. Makhmutov is a member of the Russian Photounuion (Moscow) and the Soho Photo Gallery (New York).
