Initially drawn to Unmanned Autonomous Systems or Drones as a means to control a camera remotely, Steven Cohen quickly came to see the advantages of autonomous systems on his sets. A commercial advertising photographer based in New York City for over 25 years and a graduate of The Rochester Institute of Technology, his embrace of autonomous systems offered him more control over an exacting process.
As his interest grew in the technology, he took a larger role in its advocacy, becoming the President of The Drone User Group Network-DUGN.org. With over 15,000 members nationally and founded in 2012, the DUG advocates for the safe and responsible use of civilian drone technology for positive purposes and is the only community-based organization dedicated solely to drone technology.
Further merging his passions for art and science, Steven consults for major media concerns, not-for-profit arts organizations, and educational institutions providing insight and expertise in a rapidly evolving industry.
